“Fragments and Traces: l’invitation au voyage” is the first of three exhibitions set inside a former station waiting room, and invites viewers to share a moment of quiet reflection with the artists inside this busy train stop. Platform 1 Gallery on Wandsworth Common Station has joined Wandsworth Arts Fringe 2016 for a series of exhibitions from 6-22 May 2016.

A momentary reverie in paintings and new media

Artists Kelise Franclemont and Antonia Jackson stage an exhibition of fine art including paintings, sound work, installation, and several interactive artworks all looking at memories recorded in the passage of time or while on a journey.

Fragments and Traces: l’invitation au voyage” takes its first inspiration from the poem of the same title by Baudelaire, written in the late 1800s, in which he relays his own travel memories in effluent and touching language – and becomes an apt focal point for the context of this contemporary exhibition, staged inside the former ladies’ waiting room of Wandsworth Common Station (built 1856).
