Chelsea College of Arts in London opens their 2016 MA Fine Art Summer show on Saturday 3 September 2016, followed by the PV on Monday 5 September. I could hardly wait to see what’s new so I had a quick peruse of this year’s artist list on the official MAFA Chelsea website (mafachelsea.wordpress.com). Don’t wait too long to see the show live for yourself, as it’s all over 9 September 2016.

“Make the familiar un-familiar”
is still the catch-phrase for MA Fine Art at Chelsea

From 3 to 9 September 2016, the annual MA Fine Art Summer Show at Chelsea College of Arts (London) presents the usual bill of fare with painting, sculpture, installation, new media, and anything in-between. However, don’t be fooled – the “usual” at Chelsea is anything but commonplace; these artists have been honing their practice for the past year (or two, if they had taken the part-time route), resulting in unexpected, intriguing, or downright titillating works of art, many of which will be remembered long after the show has come down.

Daily updates on the show, the artists, and their artwork can be found on Facebook on the MA Fine Art Chelsea College of Arts 2016 page. For now, here’s a 30-second sampling of a few of the many artists from my “virtual tour” of the mafachelsea WordPress site, where the 2016 group includes photographers, performance, video/film work, plus of course, painting, drawing and print-making – along with all the other work that doesn’t fit a strict definition.

Once I’ve gone through my actual tour of the MA Fine Art postgraduate show at Chelsea College of Arts, I plan to update this post – so stay tuned… or better yet, pop over for a look-in yourself; there’s so much more to see than this little taster!

Ooo wait, one more; here’s an installation/video work with live plants that looks both intriguing and delicious…

UPDATED: I nearly forgot to mention the weekend guided tours on both Saturday and Sunday by MA Fine Art graduates on themes such as gender/female body, nature and urbanism, and form/materiality. See the schedule below – there are six tours in all; free to the public so just turn up!
