Founded in 1987, Art for Youth charity gala event is open to the public on the 7th and 8th of October 2015, with a new Champagne Preview night on 5th October 2015, at Mall Galleries, London. 100% of the proceeds benefit UK Youth, a charitable network supporting more than 750,000 young people, 7,000 youth groups, clubs and projects and more than 40,000 volunteer and part-time youth workers throughout the UK.

Encouraging social inclusion and fostering self-confidence

Through the generous creative gifts from emerging and established artists, Art for Youth hosts their 27th charity event 7-8th October 2015, with the sales of more than 1,000 artworks, including paintings, sculptures, jewellery and more. Art for Youth supports UK Youth – an organisation that “gives a voice to young people who are too rarely heard, [helping them] build values that will remain useful throughout their lives” providing a route to social inclusion and self-confidence, as well as helping disadvantaged youth to develop practical skills for ongoing education and/or employment.

Artwork by around 140 emerging as well as established artists and designers will be exhibited for sale at Art for Youth, this year housed in the Mall Galleries, London, along with raffles and prize-draws, and a silent auction of small-scale “postcards” by mystery artists  – you won’t know who made the 12 x 18 cm work until you buy it and turn it over (it could be quite the collector’s item by someone very high-profile!). In all, Art for Youth has raised in excess of £2 million for UK Youth’s programmes and activities.

Caitlin Mavroleon, the Creative Director for Art for Youth, has awarded artist Kate Morgan this year’s solo project space, in which she will install paintings from her “Jungle” series, a number of large-scale drawings in tropical colours, some of them a metre and a half high. Art for Youth’s solo project space began in 2013 with an installation from Alice Shirley, and last year’s [2014] winner was Guy Haddon-Grant.

Art for Youth will open with its first-ever Champagne Preview night on 5th October 2015, a special ticketed VIP event to be attended by Art for Youth’s Patron, HRH The Princess Royal, President Nigel Mansell CBE, Chairman Anne Stoneham MBE and Chief Executive Anna Smee.

This unique event gives art lovers the chance to buy works by up-and-coming contemporary artists – at affordable rates (from £200 – £5000) – and it allows young artists the chance to exhibit and sell their artwork, whilst more importantly, also supports youth in the UK with programmes that “confront vital youth issues” such as related to education, family issues, bullying, drugs/drink counselling; road safety, employment skills, young mother’s assistance, and more.
